Contra Argument

On the other hand, there are people who stand in favor of the development of fast food chains. For instance, large companies, whose main goal is developing marketing and advertising strategies that drive consumer traffic. They have been creating new advertising techniques to sell many of their fast food products and to attract people to their restaurants. Some of these corporations spend a lot of money in marketing. For instance, one of the biggest companies of the world is McDonald’s.  According to a report made by the Rolling Stones Magazine (September, 1998) “McDonald's spends more money on advertising and marketing than does any other brand, much of it targeted at children”. Some of these strategies include a wide variety of media, such as television commercial campaigns, programs and even films. However, fast food advertising has changed over the last years and after criticism of harmful effects of fast food on people. Now, the rise on awareness of eating healthy and prevent obesity has negatively impact these companies and many modern campaigns are now including advertisements with more healthy options.
